Simorgh is a mystical, ambiguous bird, featured in many counts of Persian literature symbolising a connection between the sky and the earth. This pendant is a reminder that we are at one with the universe. This truth was revealed in the story of Simorgh by an ancient mystic poet named by Farid U din attar,. There was once a group of birds who decided that they wanted to find Simorgh to appoint him as their King. They embarked on a perilous journey through the 7 valley’s, each representing a higher stage of fulfilment towards reaching a spiritual wholeness. Many birds gave up along the way, and only 30 reached the mountain that Simorgh lives on. When they reached the mountain, they came across a lake, which showed their own reflection. At that very moment, the truth was revealed. They realised that they are all Simorgh - and all that they seeked from the universe - was already within them. (Si-morgh translates to thirty birds in Persian)

They gazed, and dared at last to comprehend

They were the Simorgh and the journey’s end.

They see the Simorgh – at themselves they stare,

And see a second Simorgh standing there;

They look at both and see the two are one,

That this is that, that this, the goal is won.

They ask (but inwardly; they make no sound)

The meaning of these mysteries that confound

Their puzzled ignorance – how is it true

That ‘we’ is not distinguished here from ‘you’?
